Sporting Index in Great Britain
This guide covers the Sporting Index account, not a separate Spreadex account. The Gambling Commission register identifies Sporting Index Limited for fixed-odds betting. Do not assume that a fixed-odds restriction also blocks spread betting.
If you need to stop access now, use the protection routes below without waiting for an ordinary-closure reply. Find local support in the international urgent-help directory; the US urgent-help page is separate.
Close your Sporting Index account
Request account closure
Use Sporting Index's account FAQ and customer agreement, Rule 9.
Note anything unresolved
If safe, keep a private note of pending withdrawals, balances and open bets. Ask support how these will be handled; do not gamble or deposit again to prepare for closure.
Email the closure request
Email info@sportingindex.com and ask to close your Sporting Index account. Never email passwords, identity documents or full payment details in an initial request. If verification is needed, ask for a secure route.
Use the official support route if needed
The FAQ also accepts live chat or 0208 1454 090. The contact page labels that number as the sports trading room and lists 0208 1454 080 for general customer service. Email is the consistent written-closure route.
Keep the closure confirmation
Rule 9 provides for an email confirmation but no fixed processing time. Responsibility for account activity continues until closure. Save the confirmation privately and check any outstanding questions with support.
Funds, open bets and reopening
Under Rule 9, return of withdrawable credited funds is on request, not an automatic payout. Outstanding liabilities and existing legal rights survive closure. Ask for an explanation of any disputed amount; do not gamble to repay it.
The reviewed ordinary-closure rule does not specify what happens to existing fixed-odds bets or spread positions. Ask support about unresolved items; do not assume closure cancels or settles them. No ordinary reopening procedure was confirmed, so this guide does not promise permanent closure.

A cautious follow-up plan and copyable templates

- After 7 days without a reply, consider sending one follow-up.
- If there is still no response after 14 days, use the platform's official complaint channel or a regulator only where it applies to your account.

Self-exclude from Sporting Index
Ask for the right protection
The safer-gambling policy separates its products:
- Fixed-odds timeout: use My Account → Safer Gambling for a break of one day to six weeks. Withdrawals remain accessible, but fixed-odds access cannot resume early. Access can resume after the timeout ends.
- Fixed-odds/casino self-exclusion: use the same menu. The initial minimum is six months, with extensions up to five years.
- Spread-betting exclusion, or an alternative to online exclusion: contact self-exclusion@sportingindex.com or 01727 895000. Specify every service you want covered and ask for written confirmation of the scope.
After the selected period ends, the policy says self-exclusion remains in place for at least seven years unless and until you initiate revocation, return its signed form and complete a 24-hour cooling-off period. It does not automatically expire after five years. Ask support about money during exclusion; the timeout withdrawal rule above must not be assumed to apply to self-exclusion.
GAMSTOP is a separate multi-operator option for participating Great Britain online gambling services. Do not rely on it to block spread betting; request that restriction directly.
What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)
It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.
Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
Stop Sporting Index emails
Stop marketing separately
The privacy policy allows some marketing after ordinary closure. Use the unsubscribe link in marketing emails. For texts, follow the message's opt-out instructions; tell the caller to stop marketing calls, disable app/device push notifications and ask customer service to stop postal marketing. Preference changes may take seven days. These actions do not close the account.
You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.
Frequently asked questions
Does closing the account delete my information?
No. The privacy policy describes retention after closure, with longer exceptions for regulatory and protection obligations. Erasure is a separate, qualified request. Contact dpo@sportingindex.com about your information; do not assume all records can be removed.
Does this close my separate Spreadex account too?
Do not assume so. Request confirmation for each account and product you want closed or restricted. This guide does not establish a shared closure or self-exclusion instruction across the two brands.
