One account across Smarkets and SBK
This guide covers the shared Smarkets and SBK account. The Gambling Commission record lists active Great Britain remote betting-intermediary permission and both brands' domains.
The current SBK terms say registering through SBK creates a Smarkets account. The official Using SBK & Smarkets help says they are not separate accounts and use the same credentials. Closing or restricting that account therefore affects access through both brands.
Smarkets distinguishes ordinary closure, a short time-out, operator self-exclusion, GAMSTOP, direct-marketing preferences, and qualified privacy deletion.
Do not trade again to prepare closure
Do not place, match, cancel, or replace an offer to change the account before closing it. Record each item and ask support for its outcome. If access needs to stop now, use time-out or self-exclusion without waiting for settlement.

Ask Smarkets Customer Support to close the account
Smarkets' current closure
help
says to contact Customer Support. Its current contact
page
publishes support@smarkets.com and live chat on smarkets.com for signed-in
users from 09:00 to 23:00 GMT. The current contact page omits a support
phone. Current operator
terms
also publish +44 20 7617 7413. The terms-listed phone is therefore kept
with that source-surface difference explicit. The reviewed pages do not
publish email or phone hours or a closure-completion time.
Record matched and unmatched items
If it is safe to sign in, note the available balance, pending withdrawal, unmatched offers, matched bets, and one non-sensitive support reference. Do not place or cancel an order to change this list first.
Email or live-chat Customer Support
Ask support@smarkets.com, official logged-in live chat during its
published hours, or the terms-listed support phone to close the shared
Smarkets and SBK account. Ask for the effective date and an item-by-item
money result.
Keep the written outcome
Save the non-sensitive closure confirmation. Do not send a password, two-factor code, full payment details, or an unrequested identity document through ordinary email.
Account Closure Request

Unmatched bets are cancelled; matched bets stand
The current closure help says unmatched bets are cancelled when the account closes and matched bets stand. Ask support how each matched result will be paid and what happens to the available balance or a pending withdrawal. The page does not publish an ordinary-closure payout deadline.
Current terms instruct a user to withdraw available funds before emailing to close. Do that only when it is safe and possible. Do not delay an urgent self-exclusion, or deposit, wager, or alter an order, merely to prepare the account; support can give the item-specific money route after protection.
Ordinary closure can later be reviewed for reopening through support. Smarkets says a user cannot create another account instead.
Permanent deletion is a separate qualified request
The closure help says a permanent-deletion request immediately blocks access and removes personal information from marketing and automated-marketing data sets, but regulatory information is retained for six years after the last activity before deletion. The current privacy policy also says deletion rights can be limited by legal requirements. Do not call ordinary closure immediate data erasure.
If support does not reply
A cautious follow-up plan and copyable templates
These are suggested follow-up intervals, not a processing-time promise from the platform. Keep the original message and any confirmation number.
- After 7 days without a reply, consider sending one follow-up.
- If there is still no response after 14 days, use the platform's official complaint channel or a regulator only where it applies to your account.

Self-exclude from Smarkets and SBK Great Britain
Choose Smarkets time-out, self-exclusion, or GAMSTOP
Time-out for 1, 7, 31, or 42 days
The current time-out
help
says to open Settings → Limits → Set Timeout, choose 1, 7, 31, or 42
days, and confirm. Account access, including the cashier, is blocked and
automatically returns when the period ends. Contact support@smarkets.com if
a withdrawal is needed during the block.
Self-exclusion for six months to forever
The current self-exclusion help says to use Settings → Limits → Set Exclusion, then choose six months, one year, five years, or forever and confirm. Support can also apply the restriction.
Smarkets says access will not be restored during the selected period and an account excluded forever will not reopen. It says a remaining balance is returned automatically within 48 hours; support can arrange an earlier withdrawal request. After a fixed term expires, access does not automatically return: email support to request review.
GAMSTOP is a separate national protection across online gambling companies licensed in Great Britain. Our GAMSTOP guide covers its current registration route.
What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)
It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.
Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
Stop Smarkets and SBK Great Britain emails
Stop Smarkets marketing separately
Smarkets' current mailing-list help says to opt out on the General tab of account settings. Its privacy policy also allows the opt-out instruction in an electronic message or a request to support. Account-related messages may continue.
Closure, time-out, self-exclusion, marketing opt-out, and privacy deletion do different jobs. Ask for more than one when the account and promotional contact both need to stop.
You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to open bets when Smarkets closes?
Unmatched offers are cancelled. Matched bets stand. Ask support for the exact settlement and payout route without placing or cancelling another order.
Does this guide also cover SBK?
Yes. SBK's current official sources say SBK registration creates a Smarkets account and the same credentials work across both brands. Ask support to name both brands in the closure confirmation.
Is ordinary closure permanent?
No. Smarkets says support can review an ordinary reopening request. A forever self-exclusion is not reopened, and permanent deletion is a separate qualified privacy action.
Can I withdraw during a time-out?
Not through the blocked account cashier. Smarkets says to email support to request a withdrawal during time-out.
