How to Close a BetMGM Ontario Account

BetMGM's current Ontario terms distinguish contractual termination, reversible Service Closure, Time Out, operator self-exclusion, and Ontario BetGuard. They are not interchangeable.

Close your BetMGM Ontario account

Terminate the BetMGM Ontario account

Section 21.1 of the current Ontario Terms of Service allows the customer to close the account and terminate the agreement with seven days' notice.

Record the balance and outstanding bets

If safe, save the available balance, pending withdrawal, valid outstanding wagers, and a non-sensitive account reference. Do not deposit or place another wager.

Withdraw the available balance

The termination clause directs the customer to withdraw the entire balance before contacting BetMGM. Use only the official Cashier and complete any secure verification there; never send full payment details in ordinary chat or email.

Give Customer Care seven days' notice

Contact Ontario Customer Care by the current email portal, chat, phone at +1-343-488-5355, or the postal address in section 21.1. Ask to close the Ontario account and terminate the agreement. Keep the non-sensitive support reference and effective date.

The terms say BetMGM responds within a reasonable time and that the customer remains responsible for account activity until closure takes effect. They also say valid outstanding wagers remain in force. Ask Customer Care to record the result for each open item rather than cancelling or wagering again.

Do not confuse Service Closure with termination

BetMGM says Service Closure is not a Responsible Gaming measure and can be removed at any time to restore access. It is for a temporary or indefinite pause at the customer's discretion. Use contractual termination when the goal is ordinary closure, or a protection when access must remain restricted.

Self-exclude from BetMGM Ontario

Choose a Time Out, BetMGM self-exclusion, or BetGuard

The Ontario terms list Time Outs of one day, one week, two months, or three months. Operator self-exclusion is six months, one year, or five years. Use Player icon → Responsible Gaming → Account Closure & Reopening → Self-Exclusion.

BetMGM says self-exclusion logs the customer out immediately, cannot be ended early, cancels future game transactions, and refunds unused account funds on request through the original deposit method when available. It applies to Ontario BetMGM and Wheel of Fortune Casino accounts, but not BetMGM or affiliate accounts in other jurisdictions.

Ontario BetGuard is separate and covers all regulated online gambling sites in Ontario. Registering in one program does not change or cancel the other.

What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)

It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.

Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.

Stop BetMGM Ontario emails

The current Ontario terms publish Account Settings → Communication Preferences for ordinary marketing choices. A customer can also use a marketing email's unsubscribe link, email optout@betmgm.com, or use the postal opt-out route in the terms. Marketing preferences do not close or restrict the account. BetMGM separately says it takes reasonable steps to prevent marketing, incentives, or promotions during operator self-exclusion.

You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.

Frequently asked questions

Is Service Closure the same as closing the account?

No. Service Closure is reversible at any time. Contractual termination requires seven days' notice, and the responsible-gambling controls impose their own restrictions.

What happens to outstanding bets?

The current Ontario terms say valid outstanding wagers remain in force after termination. Ask Customer Care to record each outcome and do not place a new wager to change it.

Does Ontario closure affect US BetMGM accounts?

The reviewed Ontario contract does not establish that. Keep the Ontario and US account procedures separate.
