Ireland account scope
These instructions cover lottery.ie, not a UK or US National Lottery account. You can use independent help before the account task is finished.
Close your Irish National Lottery account
Close through Manage My Account
The National Lottery's current terms, version 10 from August 2026, say you can close an online account through Manage My Account while signed in. Read the confirmation and retain the resulting reference privately.
If you cannot use that route, the official contact page lists support@lottery.ie and 01-889-1000, with general assistance 8 AM–9 PM daily. Ask for closure help without restoring access for further play. Do not include a password or full payment details in ordinary email.
Confirm how unused wallet money will reach you
The terms say unused wallet funds are returned by account-payee cheque or another method chosen by Premier Lotteries Ireland. If it cannot contact you, the funds remain claimable for six years, after which they cannot be claimed. This is not an instant-payment promise.
Check that support has the contact information it needs and ask how purchased future draws or unresolved claims will be administered. Keep the response and reference; do not buy more entries or gamble a balance to complete closure. Ask for an official secure route if identity or payment documents are required.

Self-exclude from Irish National Lottery
Consider the separate Take a Break restriction
The Take a Break page describes responsible-play restrictions ranging from one month to five years or permanent closure. It blocks account access and messages during the restriction. Review the current process rather than assuming an ordinary closure request has identical effects.
That page lists its phone assistance to 8 PM, while the general contact page lists 9 PM. If seeking this specific protective service, use its published route and earlier hours; do not assume both schedules are interchangeable. Request protection promptly if access is a concern.
What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)
It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.
Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
Frequently asked questions
Does ordinary closure stop marketing or erase my records?
Those outcomes are not promised by the ordinary closure clause. The privacy statement is a separate policy; ask about data and marketing preferences without treating account closure as complete erasure. No ordinary reopening rule or guaranteed completion time is established in this guide.
Who is covered?
The terms concern adults legally resident in Ireland and physically in Ireland to play. This guide is for leaving an existing account, not testing eligibility or bypassing location controls. For another service, use the correct platform guide. Additional device barriers can complement account-level protection without replacing it.
