Gambling Blocker Comparison

A gambling blocker can add friction between you and gambling websites or apps. It is not the same as closing an account, setting a temporary timeout, or joining an operator or regulator self-exclusion program.

This comparison covers Gamban, BetBlocker, and GamBlock using their official product, pricing, agreement, and privacy pages. It does not name a winner. The right starting point depends on your devices, budget, network setup, selected protection period, and comfort with each provider's data practices.

Compare the practical differences

Gamban

• U.S. price shown at the July 23 review: $6.99 monthly or $41.99 annually, with a seven-day trial. Regional, app-store, and tax differences may apply. Check Gamban's current pricing.
• Systems listed: Android 6+, iOS/iPadOS 9+, macOS 10.10+, and Windows Vista SP2+. Gamban says one licence may cover up to 15 eligible personal devices. Check the current app requirements and licence terms.
• Subscription and removal: Direct subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. Cancelling renewal is not the same as removing protection. The licence terms generally prevent mid-period termination, subject to their stated exceptions and legal rights. At termination, they require the user to remove the software; they do not generally require Gamban to uninstall it. Ask official support about your product and circumstances rather than assuming automatic removal.
• Account and data: This is an account-based subscription. The Gamban privacy policy describes account, device, transaction, usage, technical, and profile data, including some gambling-related profile information.
• Important compatibility point: Gamban's agreement warns that using a VPN or proxy to circumvent the product can cause instability or temporarily allow access. Do not treat VPN use as a verified extra protection feature.

BetBlocker

• Price: BetBlocker presents the service as free and ad-free.
• Systems listed: Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, Fire OS, and AppGallery appear in the official download chooser. The current official site reviewed did not establish a Chrome or Firefox extension, so this page does not list one.
• Protection period: An activated Gambling Self-Restriction cannot be lifted before its selected period ends, according to BetBlocker's current FAQ. That is a BetBlocker product setting—not enrollment in a government or operator self-exclusion list.
• Registration and data: BetBlocker says no registration is required. Its privacy policy still describes website technical data, app block type and duration, geography/language aggregates, and information voluntarily shared with support.
• Important compatibility point: Desktop users can choose local, VPN, or combined modes. BetBlocker documents different speed, Wi-Fi, and local-device tradeoffs for those modes on its desktop block-type page.

BetBlocker's coverage counts are vendor-published and change over time. They are not an independently audited protection score or a basis for ranking it against another product.

GamBlock

• Price: GamBlock uses device-, product-, tier-, and period-specific pricing rather than one plan. Check the current official download and pricing page for the device you intend to use.
• Systems listed: The product family includes Android, Windows, iPhone/iPad, and Apple/Mac options. Setup and compatibility differ substantially by product. Start with the official version list.
• Protection period: GamBlock's product agreements say the company is not obliged to remove protection during the selected period. End-of-period behavior and support-removal conditions vary by platform.
• Account and data: Purchase, download, and support details are shared with the provider. GamBlock's privacy statement is less detailed than the other two reviewed policies about data categories, processors, retention, and international transfers.
• Important compatibility point: Some Apple options require a Mac or remote configuration; Windows installation requires administrator permission; and GamBlock's terms warn that attempted removal in some setups can cause data loss. Read the product-specific agreement before installing.

GamBlock's official product overview describes heuristic blocking rather than publishing a current exact blocklist count. The reviewed sources do not support the old claims that it is desktop-only or that its coverage and removal resistance outrank the other products.

What each provider says it covers

Gamban's published scope

Gamban says it blocks tens of thousands of gambling websites and apps across categories that include sports betting, casinos, poker, bingo, lotteries, social casinos, crypto gambling, affiliates, and some trading-style products. It also lists areas it does not intend to block, including gambling adverts, investment sites, general sports-information services, adult content, and loot boxes. Review the provider's current blocking description rather than assuming every gambling-related page or advertisement is covered.

BetBlocker's published scope

BetBlocker publishes a live website-and-app count and says its database is updated weekly, while also stating that the list is not exhaustive. Because the count is dynamic and vendor-published, use it only to understand the provider's stated scope—not as a protection score.

GamBlock's published scope

GamBlock's product overview says its products use heuristics to identify gambling sites and apps, including newly published sites. The reviewed official pages do not publish a current exact count or an independent detection test. Its legal notice also disclaims guarantees about the accuracy, currency, completeness, and availability of website information.

What no blocker replaces

A device blocker is one layer. It does not establish that these separate actions are complete:

1. Closing or deactivating a gambling account. Use the platform directory for the operator's documented account options.
2. Formal self-exclusion. Use the platform's current safer-gambling controls and check the verified state directory where a regulator program is available. Coverage differs by product and venue.
3. Handling a remaining balance or pending wager. Follow the current operator terms and official support route. Do not gamble again to try to unlock a balance.
4. Stopping direct marketing. Change the operator's marketing settings or send a separate opt-out request. A site blocker does not necessarily stop email, SMS, push notifications, or advertisements. A safer way to choose

1. List every device that needs coverage

Include personal phones, tablets, computers, and any device where gambling apps or sites are available. Match the exact operating-system version against the provider's current requirements.

2. Read the active-period rule before starting

Confirm the selected billing or restriction period, what happens when it ends, and whether support will consider removal. Do not rely on a comparison site for a promise that the provider will unlock a device early.

3. Check network and accessibility requirements

VPN mode, local filtering, remote configuration, administrator access, and older devices can produce different compatibility issues. If you need a VPN for work, rely on assistive technology, or share a device, ask the provider about that exact setup before activating a restriction.

4. Read the privacy policy

Look for account requirements, gambling-related profile fields, device and usage data, payment providers, support-data handling, retention, and deletion exceptions. “No registration” does not necessarily mean a website or app processes no technical data.

Questions people ask

Is blocking software the same as self-exclusion?

No. Blocking software operates on a device or network under the provider's product rules. Operator or regulator self-exclusion operates under a separate program with its own identity checks, coverage, duration, and removal rules. Many people use both layers, but completing one does not prove the other is active.

Which blocker is hardest to bypass?

The reviewed official materials make different claims about removal resistance and coverage, but they do not provide one comparable independent test. This page therefore does not rank bypass difficulty. Choose based on verified device support, the active-period rule, compatibility, cost, and data handling.

Can I use a blocker with a VPN?

It depends on the product and mode. Gamban warns that VPN/proxy use can create instability or temporary access. BetBlocker offers VPN and non-VPN desktop modes with different tradeoffs. GamBlock's setup varies by product. Check the current provider instructions for your exact device and network.

Should I install more than one blocker?

The reviewed providers do not establish that every combination is compatible. Multiple local or VPN-based blockers may interfere with connectivity or each other. Ask the providers about the exact combination rather than assuming that stacking products always adds protection.

Can I install a blocker for another adult?

Do not install or configure software on another adult's device without their permission or other lawful authority. A concerned family member can still seek support and information for themselves through the current support routes.

Official sources and review date

The full comparison was reviewed on July 23, 2026 using the official pages linked throughout it. GamBlock pricing at that review required a normal browser because the first-party download page renders prices with JavaScript.

The October 21, 2026 targeted review used Gamban's licence terms and BetBlocker's official site to correct subscription/removal wording, add the iOS backup warning, and remove the old coverage count and sole-Scottish-entity description. It was not a full price or device-matrix refresh. No search snippet or third-party product roundup was used as evidence for these changes.

Vendor-published coverage and removal-resistance claims were not independently penetration-tested. If a material product detail has changed, use the official contact route above and treat the vendor's current agreement and privacy policy as controlling.
