Withdraw rather than play away credit
Check recurring payments and eligible credit before closing. If you need protection now, ask support immediately; do not keep gambling to finish administration. GB support is available separately. Use urgent help if you need immediate support.
Close your The Health Lottery account
Use My Details to close the account
The official FAQ gives My Details → Close account at the bottom of the signed-in page. Alternatively, call 0330 390 2289 and confirm your closure request verbally.
The FAQ calls closure irreversible for that account but says a new account may be opened later. Therefore ordinary closure should not be treated as lifetime self-exclusion. Save confirmation and any outstanding administrative reference privately.
Cancel recurring arrangements and check credit
The FAQ says to cancel Direct Debit or active subscriptions while the account remains open, reducing the risk of another charge. Ask support to confirm the status of each recurring arrangement; account closure alone should not be used as your cancellation receipt.
The FAQ warns that credit cannot be recovered after closure and advises using or withdrawing it first. Choose withdrawal, not more play. The terms at section 5.7 also describe returning money to the registered financial account or another method where necessary. Because those descriptions differ, obtain a written answer about your balance before relying on a post-closure refund. No automatic recovery or payment deadline is guaranteed here.

Self-exclude from The Health Lottery
Ask for self-exclusion if you need that protection
The Healthy Play information describes a separate exclusion lasting six months to five years. It suspends the account and provides for wallet return. The account remains suspended at the end until a separate support process is completed; expiry is not automatic reactivation.
Tell Customer Support that you want self-exclusion rather than ordinary closure. Ask about purchased draws and money without postponing the protective request or making another purchase.
What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)
It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.
Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
Stop The Health Lottery emails
Unsubscribe from marketing separately
The terms list communication preferences, email unsubscribe, unsubscribe@healthlottery.co.uk, or the published support phone as marketing opt-out routes. No complete suppression deadline is confirmed. Service correspondence about closure or money is not necessarily marketing.
You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.
Frequently asked questions
Is this personal-data deletion?
No. The terms permit retention of personal details for stated reasonable purposes. Ask about a separate privacy request if needed. Do not send identity documents or full bank details through an ordinary first email.
Does the guide apply outside Great Britain?
The account terms concern eligible adults in Great Britain with the required GB address and financial details. Use a different platform guide for a different operator. If a withdrawal dispute remains, see the GB complaints guide rather than paying an unsolicited “recovery” service.
