Gambling Withdrawal Delayed? Complaint Steps in Great Britain
Document a delayed gambling withdrawal, complain to the operator and understand the ADR route in Great Britain without gambling more or reopening access.

If a withdrawal is delayed, contact the operator through its official complaints process and keep a written record. You do not need to gamble more to make a complaint. This guide concerns operators licensed by the Gambling Commission for Great Britain; other jurisdictions have different routes. Independent support can help while the money issue is unresolved. Urgent help is also available if you need immediate support.
Ask what is actually holding the withdrawal
The Gambling Commission's withdrawal guidance says operators should ask for information at the earliest reasonable opportunity. They should not introduce unnecessary withdrawal delays by requesting information they could reasonably have requested earlier. However, additional checks can be legitimate, including requirements that arise under anti-money-laundering obligations. A document request is not, by itself, proof of wrongdoing.
Ask which information is outstanding, why it is needed now, and how to send it securely. Use the operator's published contact route, not an unsolicited message offering to unlock funds. Never send your password or a complete payment-card image in an ordinary email.
Create a short, private complaint record
Following the official complaints guide, complain to the business first. Keep copies of correspondence and relevant terms. A useful record can include:
- The withdrawal request date and the amount disputed.
- What the operator said was missing and what you supplied.
- The complaint reference, dates and any final response.
- The outcome you are asking for, described without threats or exaggeration.
This website does not collect that evidence. Keep account identifiers and financial documents out of public reviews, social posts and shared screenshots. If you cannot log in, use the official support route and ask how to pursue the complaint without restoring gambling access.
Escalate a qualifying dispute to ADR
The Commission's Alternative Dispute Resolution guidance explains the free, independent ADR route after the operator's process. If a complaint remains unresolved after eight weeks, or the operator issues a final response earlier, check its named ADR provider and referral details. Keep the final response or deadlock letter.
ADR considers disputes within its remit, not every dissatisfaction with customer service. Eight weeks is a complaints milestone, not a guaranteed payout date. Neither a complaint nor this guide establishes that a disputed balance must be paid.
Keep protection separate from the money dispute
Tell support if you need self-exclusion or closure while the complaint is open. Ask how they will communicate and handle eligible funds without reopening access. Do not accept more gambling, another deposit or a bonus as a necessary way to pursue a complaint.
The Commission's customer-enquiries page explains that it does not resolve individual transaction disputes or recover money for you. If the operator has ceased trading, use the separate closed-gambling-site guide. For someone offering paid “recovery,” see our recovery-scam checklist.
