Choose the action you need
This guide covers the Mass Lottery Player Account. The documented account action is deactivation through support, not confirmed permanent closure or personal-data deletion. If you need protection from online gambling, consider the separate iLottery self-exclusion process below. You can reach independent support without completing either task.
Deactivate your Massachusetts Lottery account
Ask Customer Support to deactivate the account
The current account-deactivation article says a Customer Support representative can deactivate your Player Account. It lists info@masslottery.com and 781-849-5555. It does not publish a completion deadline or account-support hours.
Check unresolved money and existing purchases
If you have money or a pending prize claim, read the balance section below and ask how it will be handled. The Lottery's My Upcoming Draws instructions show where to review draws already purchased. Ask what deactivation means for those draws, prizes and second-chance entries; cancellation is not established by the reviewed sources. Do not buy anything else to finish this task or delay needed protection while resolving these questions.
Request Player Account deactivation
Use the published email or phone above and clearly ask for deactivation of your Mass Lottery Player Account. Keep the request brief. Do not email a password, Social Security number, payment details or identity documents. Ask for the official secure process if verification is needed.
Keep written confirmation of the result
Ask what account access will stop, whether any later reactivation is possible, and how unresolved claims or purchases will be handled. We could not verify these post-deactivation rules. Do not treat a sent request as completed deactivation or self-exclusion enrollment.
Handle remaining money without further gambling
The official withdrawal guide describes My Account → Withdraw, with separate options for winnings and deposits. Use withdrawal only if it is already available to you. Security checks may require email verification and identity or account-ownership documents through the official process.
The same article states a first-deposit restriction. Do not make a deposit or gamble to unlock a withdrawal. If withdrawal is unavailable, ask support in writing how to recover eligible money. No automatic payout following deactivation was verified. Self-exclusion separately preserves withdrawals, as explained below, so a money question need not delay requesting protection.
For records you already need, the Lottery's Transaction History instructions explain where signed-in users can access mobile-claim details and W-2G copies. Ask support how to obtain records after deactivation; that access is unverified.

Self-exclude from Massachusetts Lottery
Request iLottery self-exclusion separately
The Lottery's self-exclusion article lists one, three or five years, or lifetime. It says exclusion stops online deposits and betting while preserving withdrawals, account changes and retail features. It also stops direct Mass Lottery marketing.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission's enrollment page distinguishes iLottery, casino and sports-wagering exclusions. Confirm the types you want covered. iLottery exclusion blocks online deposits, ticket purchases and game play; it does not prohibit retail lottery purchases or collection of retail winnings.
The Commission lists a 24-hour enrollment phone route, 1-800-426-1234, and 24-hour PlayWell chat linked from its page. For an appointment, it lists 617-533-9737 or vse@massgaming.gov. Follow the official enrollment process and ask for confirmation; an account-deactivation email is not enrollment.
The Commission says lifetime exclusion is available only after completing a shorter term. Fixed terms do not end automatically: removal requires a reinstatement session after the selected term. Do not assume access returns when a calendar date passes.
What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)
It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.
Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
Stop Massachusetts Lottery emails
Ask about marketing separately
The Lottery confirms that self-exclusion stops its direct marketing. We could not verify a separate ordinary marketing-only control or whether deactivation stops promotions. Ask support how to stop unwanted marketing without making another purchase or assuming the account must be reopened. No suppression deadline or end to necessary service messages is promised here.
You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.
Frequently asked questions
Does deactivation delete my personal information?
No data-deletion guarantee was verified. The current deactivation instructions do not establish retention periods, retained-data categories or an erasure process. Ask the Lottery about personal-data requests separately; this guide does not claim that deactivation erases records.
What if the support contact differs elsewhere?
The action above uses the deactivation-specific article. The Lottery's separate general contact article also lists playersupport@masslottery.com. If you cannot get the request handled through the first contact, ask Player Support to confirm the current deactivation route. We do not promise a response time.
Does this cancel every ticket, entry or subscription?
That outcome is unverified. Ask support about your existing purchases and entries specifically; deactivation and cancellation are different requests. Neither account deactivation nor iLottery exclusion establishes a block on buying lottery tickets at retail locations.
Can I get help without returning to the Lottery?
Yes. Our US urgent-help page, international support directory and US treatment guide offer independent next steps. You do not need to finish the account task first.
