Robinhood's event-contract opt-out guide says Hide sports prediction markets only changes what is shown. A user can still trade sports event contracts. Formal account-level self-exclusion from all event contracts requires support.

Deactivate a selected Robinhood investing account

Choose the scope: event contracts or one investing account

If the goal is to stop prediction-market access, use the self-exclusion steps below. Robinhood's separate account-deactivation guide lets a user select an individual or joint investing account. Do not liquidate or close an unrelated account merely to stop event-contract trading.

Choose the exact account and read its rules

Identify the individual or joint investing account to deactivate. IRA, managed, and custodial accounts use different closure or transfer rules; follow the matching section of Robinhood's current guide.

Resolve only that account's listed items

Cancel unfilled orders. A filled event-contract trade cannot be cancelled; an open position may be sold when the market is available and liquid, or it may need to settle. For an individual investing account, Robinhood lists closed positions, no pending deposits or upcoming listed payments, program unenrollment, and a $0 balance. Joint and other account types differ. Do not trade again only to change an outcome; use support when an item is blocked.

Use Settings → Deactivate Account

Select the exact account you want to close and follow its on-screen flow. Robinhood says deactivation requests should process within one to two weeks. Records remain available afterward, and deactivation is not a privacy-data deletion request.

Ask for formal account-level self-exclusion from all event-contract trading. Do not ask only to hide sports prediction markets.

Keep the restriction confirmation

Robinhood says a review and short activation period apply. After settlement, the event-contract balance transfers to the brokerage account. Re-enabling trading later requires another support request and review.

What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)

It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.

Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.
