BCLC's current British Columbia help material documents account closure, not guaranteed deletion of every record. It also leaves some open-wager, pending-withdrawal, and ordinary-reopening results unpublished.

Close your PlayNow British Columbia account

Check the province and record unfinished items

Confirm that the account is governed by British Columbia and BCLC. Record the cash balance, Tokens, free play, open wagers, lottery purchases, withdrawals already requested, and any support references. Do not deposit, buy, or wager again to prepare the account for closure.

BCLC's current PlayNow Player Agreement says bets, wagers, and lottery-ticket purchases cannot be cancelled once placed. It does not fully publish how every open item or an already-pending withdrawal will be handled after closure, so ask before confirming if either exists.

Call BCLC Player Support

PlayNow's current account help page directs a player who wants to close an account to call 1-877-706-6789. The Contact page lists telephone support from 7 a.m. to midnight PT daily and also provides live chat.

Ask to close the British Columbia PlayNow account. Before support applies the action, ask it to state the result for every open wager, pending withdrawal, balance type, and any other BCLC product tied to the account. BCLC does not publish a universal closure-completion time.

Use the verified balance route

The Player Agreement says closure triggers withdrawal of the cash balance, subject to identity and bank-account requirements. A cash balance under $5 can be returned only by direct deposit. Tokens and free play are excluded from the cash balance returned at closure.

Follow only the secure bank and identity route BCLC gives you. Do not send a password, one-time code, full payment details, or unsolicited identity documents by ordinary chat or message.

Save the confirmation

Keep the closure reference, the final balance record, and any written explanation of unresolved items. The reviewed British Columbia sources do not publish an ordinary reopening procedure, so do not assume the account can—or cannot—be restored later without asking BCLC.

Self-exclude from PlayNow British Columbia

BCLC's Game Break is separate from ordinary PlayNow account closure. The published British Columbia periods are six months, one year, two years, or three years. The break starts immediately, automatically closes the existing PlayNow account, and cannot be cancelled or shortened.

Before registering, record open wagers and already-pending withdrawals if it is safe to access the account without gambling. The reviewed Game Break and Player Agreement sources do not publish one result for every such item. Do not place a new wager or deposit to test or prepare for the restriction; ask BCLC how the specific open items will be handled.

The current scope includes PlayNow, the British Columbia lottery and sportsbook apps, and applicable BCLC gambling facilities. Read the live scope before registering; it should not be described as a nationwide Canadian block or as a block on every gambling website.

BCLC says Game Break removes promotional funds and returns eligible cash balances over $5 to the registered bank account. At the end of the selected period, return requires the Game Plan course and a Return to Play form. If no return step is completed, exclusion continues until 12 months after the selected term ends. Use the official Game Break page for the current enrollment route and conditions.

What self-exclusion actually does (and doesn't)

It is designed to block play for the period you choose. Whether it covers new sign-ups or can be changed early depends on the operator and jurisdiction; follow the platform-specific details above.

Do not assume self-exclusion deletes account data, stops every message, or covers other sites; exact scope varies. Consider account closure, mailbox controls, and a blocking tool as additional layers.

Stop PlayNow British Columbia emails

PlayNow's current help centre documents communication choices under Edit Profile. Turn off the available promotional choices and save the change. Use the unsubscribe link in a current promotional email when one is provided.

This action does not close the account, and account, security, legal, Game Break, or transaction messages may continue. If promotions continue, keep one example and contact BCLC without including unnecessary gambling history.

You can also use your mailbox's search, filter, and bulk-delete controls. Review the privacy terms and current price before granting any third-party cleanup tool access to your inbox.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guide apply to PlayNow Manitoba or Saskatchewan?

No. It is verified only for the British Columbia service operated by BCLC. Those provinces have different agreements and program scope.

What happens to the balance after closure?

BCLC says closure triggers withdrawal of the cash balance, subject to identity and banking requirements. Balances under $5 require direct deposit. Tokens and free play are excluded. The reviewed sources do not provide a universal result for every open wager or an already-pending withdrawal.

Can a British Columbia PlayNow account be reopened?

The reviewed current sources do not publish an ordinary reopening procedure. Ask BCLC before closure if reversibility matters, and keep its written answer.

Is account closure the same as Game Break?

No. Ordinary closure is a support action. Game Break is a time-locked British Columbia protection with a published multi-channel scope, fixed periods, and return-to-play requirements.

Does closure erase personal data?

No complete-erasure promise is published for ordinary closure. BCLC's current Player Privacy Statement explains access and correction routes and why information may be retained for legal, regulatory, transaction, security, and other purposes. Treat a privacy request as separate from closing the PlayNow account.
